Docetaxel 120mg

Docetaxel 120 mg is an anti-tumor agent, intended for the treatment of different lung, breast and gastric cancer. It must be used under the surveillance of an experienced health professional. Careful monitoring of blood count and LFTs is obligatory during the treatment.

This drug belongs to the group of antineoplastic agents – alkaloids, which has a natural plant origin.

This antitumor cytotoxic drug belongs to the group of taxoids, it is used for the treatment of oncological diseases.

Its active ingredient, docetaxel, is able to accumulate tubulin inside microtubules. It has the property of preventing their decomposition, which causes a violation of the mitosis phase inside the tumor cells, as well as the interphase processes occurring in them.

Docetaxel 120 mg is able to stay inside cells for a long time, due to which they form high concentrations of this active substance.

How to use this drug?

Docetaxel comes in the form of liquid for intravenous injection. It must be given once every 3 weeks by a health professional or an experienced nurse.

Your physician may prescribe a steroid drug (for example, dexamethasone) for you to take during every treatment cycle to help avoid certain adverse effects. Alway follow the doctor’s prescriptions during the treatment. If you skipped the dose, inform your doctor about it.

As the medication contains alcohol, the patient may experience certain symptoms for a couple of hours after the injection. If you notice the following symptoms, inform your doctor immediately: confusion, drowsiness, or feeling drunk.

What should you do before starting the treatment?

Inform your physician if you have allergy to Docetaxel 120 mg or any other drugs.
Tell your physician what other prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, food and herbal supplements you’re using or going to use. Pay special attention to the following: antifungals like itraconazole, voriconazole or ketoconazole; clarithromycin (Biaxin); HIV protease inhibitors such as indinavir, atazanavir, ritonavir, nelfinavir or saquinavir; drugs that contain alcohol (such as Nyquil); painkillers; nefazodone; telithromycin and sleeping drugs.

Your physician can modify your drug dose or monitor you closely for adverse effects. A lot of other drug can interact with Docetaxel as well. Therefore, you should inform your physician about any drugs you’re using. If you’re going to have an operation (even dental surgery), warn the doctor that you’re taking Docetaxel 120 mg.

You must be aware that Docetaxel injection may cause drowsiness, impair your judgment and negatively affect your motor skills. Avoid driving or working with heavy machinery for a few hours after the infusion.
