Oxaliplatin 100mg

An antitumor drug belonging to a new class of compounds based on platinum, in which the platinum atom forms a complex bond with 1,2-diaminocyclohexane (DACG) and an oxalate group.

Oxaliplatin has antitumor activity in various types of tumors, including colorectal cancer. It is also effective in the treatment of tumors resistant to cisplatin. The effect manifests itself regardless of the phase of the cell cycle. When used with fluorouracil synergism of cytotoxic effects is observed. The mechanism of the antitumor effect of Oxaliplatin is based on the cytotoxic effect and has not been fully studied.

The drug Oxaliplatin is used in the treatment of patients with established diagnosis of metastatic colorectal cancer of the large intestine; malignant tumors of the ovaries. It is used for mono-and complex therapy.

It is forbidden to prescribe Oxaliplatin to people who are hypersensitive to its components. Also, Oxaliplatin therapy of pregnant and lactating women, children and patients suffering from hepatic / renal insufficiency, oppression of hemopoiesis, spinal cord diseases and peripheral nerve diseases is contraindicated.

Possible side effects are allergic reactions to the skin, headaches, seizures, a sharp decline in blood quality, a depressing process of hematopoiesis, digestive system disorders, increased excitability, increased blood flow to the head.
It is forbidden to use the drugs and components that contain aluminum ions and alkaline for the preparation of infusion solution. Undiluted solution is forbidden for oral use. It is not recommended to mix the solution of Oxaliplatin with the other infusions in one circuit. In the subsequent use of infusion system for the other drugs, you should rinse it before injection. The prepared solution of Oxaliplatin with mechanical inclusion is forbidden for infusion.
Before starting treatment with Oxaliplatin, tell your doctor if you suffer kidney or liver dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, asthma. The doctor should know if you take medications to dilute blood, increase the level of potassium and magnesium in the blood.

During the therapy with Oxaliplatin the doctor will closely monitor your health to assess how the body reacts to the drug. High fever, chills, severe chest pain, vomiting (more than 4-5 times a day during the day), diarrhea, blood in the urine or stool, severe abdominal pain, signs of infection (pain when swallowing, red throat, painful urination) are symptoms that should be reported to your doctor immediately.
