Enzalutamide 40mg

Enzalutamide 40 mg is an antiandrogen, used in oncology. Its active substance suppresses the activity of androgen receptors in the cancer cells of prostate and their binding with DNA. The long-term treatment with Enzalutamide 40 mg restricts the growth of cancer cells and (in many cases) causes their death. Enzalutamide 40 mg has a good absorption (in case of oral use), but has a long half-life by (5-8 days). The drug should be used after ineffective chemotherapy that included Docetaxel. Patients with liver/kidney dysfunction should use this drug very carefully.

How to use the drug?

The drug should be taken at the same time every day. The recommended dose is 4 capsules per 40 mg (160 mg altogether), but the doctor can change it at his/her discretion.
It is especially important to follow the doctor’s orders, if you pass the chemotherapy. At that, you should be ready for the long course of treatment.

Side effects of Enzalutamide 40 mg

There is a small risk of seizures during the treatment. Therefore, you should avoid the activity that (in case of a sudden loss of consciousness) can result in the serious harm to yourself or others and working with the dangerous objects. You should inform your doctor even about the one-time seizure.
The treatment can cause posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome. You should immediately inform your doctor about the attack or its symptoms (growing head pain, decreased attention, loss of vision and confusion). He will make an accurate diagnosis and cancel the treatment.

The possible side effects include:

weakness and fatigue, vertigo that leads to falls
back and joint pain
loss of appetite, weight loss, nausea or diarrhea
high blood pressure.
Precautions
You should inform your doctor if you had craniocerebral injuries, seizures, stroke or brain tumor.
The use of any other drugs (even vitamins and herbal supplements) must be agreed with your doctor, as any medication can reduce the effectiveness of the drug.

During the treatment

During the treatment with Enzalutamide 40 mg, you should follow the next recommendations:
drink at least 2-3 l of liquid a day;
in case of hot flashes, wear light closes, stay in cool places and put the wet bandage to your head;
avoid contact sports and traumatizing your skin;
minimize or exclude alcoholic drinks;
devote sufficient time to the rest;
follow a healthy diet;
wash your hands frequently;
maintain a normal level of physical activity.
