The description of Bosentan 62, 5 mg
The drug contains Bosentan, which blocks a natural hormone called endothelin 1 (ET-1), causing blood thinning. Therefore, Bosentan causes vasodilation and belongs to a group of drugs called “endothelin receptor blockers”.
The medicine is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH).
It is used for the treatment of patients with the 3rd class of PAH to improve the ability to perform physical activity and symptoms.
Some improvements were also demonstrated in patients with the 2nd class of PAH.
PAH, which is treated with this drug, can be:
primary (with undetermined cause or inheritance),
caused by scleroderma (also called systemic sclerosis, a disease associated with an unusual growth of connective tissue that supports the skin and other organs)
caused by congenital heart defects with abnormal cardiac connections, causing an unusual flow of blood to the heart and lungs.
It is also used to treat ulcers (sores on arms and legs) in adult patients with a disease called scleroderma. Bosentan reduces the number of new digital ulcers of hands and feet.
