Who must take this drug?
Descovy was approved by FDA for the therapy of adults suffering from HIV infection.
Descovy shouldn’t be used by the patient with severe renal dysfunction or those with HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis.
While antiretroviral therapy is advised for all patients suffering from HIV, there are no strict rules about when to begin such treatment. You and your doctor must take into account your CD4 cell count, your viral load, any signs you notice, and your attitude towards the use of antiretroviral drugs.
If you combine Descovy with other antiretroviral medications, you may decrease your viral load to undetectable levels, and enhance your CD4 cell counts. This will allow you to stay healthy for a long time.
Descovy can’t be used for the treatment of patients with hepatitis B infection (HBV). Some patients with HBV feel worse after ending the therapy with Descovy Get tested for HBV before beginning the treatment with Descovy.
Descovy shouldn’t be used to prevent HIV infections in pre-exposure prophylaxis.
Descovy includes two medications in one pill. It’s much better to use this drug than some other combinations of ARTs. This will help you avoid skipping the doses and control HIV infections.
At the beginning of treatment with ARTs, you may experience temporary adverse effects like head pain, hypertension, or a malaise. These adverse effects generally get better or go away with time.
Descovy is well tolerated in most patients. The most widespread adverse effects of this drug are the same as with emtricitabine or tenofovir alafenamide. According to the clinical research, the most common adverse effect of TAF is sickness. In some patients, it may cause kidney damage. Patients with kidney dysfunction or those using drugs that may damage the kidney (such as Ibuprofen) are at greater risk of kidney adverse effects. Therefore, you should control renal function before and during the therapy with Descovy
TAF is a new version of an older medication known as tenofovir DF (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate). Despite the fact that TAF should finally replace tenofovir DF, the manufacturer isn’t going to stop selling the drugs that contain tenofovir DF. Partially, TAF was manufactured as a safer version of tenofovir DF. The clinical researches of combination HIV treatment, TAF was found to be safe and usually well tolerated with fewer adverse effects than tenofovir DF.
