Temozolomide 250mg

Indications for use.

Multiform glioblastoma revealed for the first time: combined treatment with radiation therapy followed by adjuvant monotherapy;
Malignant glioma (glioblastoma multiforme or anaplastic astrocytoma) in the presence of relapse or disease progression after standard therapy;
Common metastatic melanoma (it is a first-line drug).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity, expressed myelosuppression, child age (up to 3 years – for the treatment of multiple glioblastoma and up to 18 years – for the treatment of melanoma), pregnancy, lactation.
It should be taken with caution in case of renal / hepatic insufficiency, elderly age.

Special instruction

The prescribed dose should be taken using the minimum possible number of capsules.
Men and women should use effective contraceptive methods during treatment and for 6 months after treatment.
You should have your blood tested on the 21st day after taking the first dose and then weekly, until the absolute number of neutrophils exceeds 1.5 thousand/µl, platelets – 100 thousand/µl. If the absolute number of neutrophils is below 1 thousand / µl or the number of platelets is below 50 thousand/µl during any treatment cycle, the dose in the next cycle should be reduced by one step.
Patients with severe vomiting (more than 5 attacks within 24 hours) should be prescribed antiemetic therapy before and after treatment.
During the period of treatment you should refrain from driving vehicles and occupation of other potentially hazardous activities, which require high concentration and psychomotor speed reactions.
Avoid contact with the contents of the capsule (if damaged) on the skin and mucous membranes. If the drug has a contact with skin or mucous membranes, you should rinse it with water.

Method of reception and doses.

The drug is taken on an empty stomach. Adults and children over 3 years who haven’t undergone chemotherapy – 200 mg/sqm / 1 time a day for 5 days within a 28-day cycle; patients, who have undergone chemotherapy – 150 mg/m 1 time per day; during the second cycle – 200 mg/sqm, provided the fact that the absolute quantity of neutrophils on the 1st day of the next cycle is not less than 1.5 thousand/µl, the absolute quantity of platelets is not less than 100 thousand/µl. The minimum dose is 100 mg / sqm. The maximum duration of treatment is 2 years. Capsules should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water.
